For some of the finest shopping in South Africa, visit the Rosebank Mall and The Zone shopping centres, two large shopping centres situated side by side, just a few blocks away from Clico Guesthouse. Whether you’re looking for chic, designer African fashion, the latest music, books, or trolley loads of homeware, technological gadgets or just about anything else, you’re sure to find it in this extensive shopping area, which is home to department stores, smaller boutiques, many trendy coffee shops and two cinema complexes, including a “Cinema Nouveau”, for limited release films.
The African Flea Market, situated in the Rosebank Mall, is the perfect place to pick up a uniquely African souvenir. It is open every day and showcases crafts such as wooden masks and beadwork from all over Africa. At weekends, the Mall hosts a Rooftop Market, a vast fleamarket selling knickknacks from earrings to artworks.
The Johannesburg Zoo is close by
The Johannesburg Zoo was established in 1904 and is one of South Africa’s largest zoos. It is home to the “big five”, as well as species like polar bears, chimpanzees and seals.
Over the road from the zoo is Zoo Lake, perfect for a relaxing Sunday-afternoon drift in a rowing boat, and also known as a hub for outdoor concerts. While there, dine at Moyo Restaurant, well-known for its pan-African cuisine and the way patrons’ faces are delicately painted, African style.
Clico is also close to the Rosebank Clinic for any medical emergencies our guests might experience.
The Johannesburg skyline rises majestically against a blue African sky
Sandton City and Mandela Square shopping centres are just 10 minutes away and offer a magnificent array of shops, restaurants and upmarket clubs.
The guesthouse is also very close to the Johannesburg CBD, where many businesses and two of South Africa’s best universities – the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Johannesburg – are situated.
Pristine golf and beauty treatment facilities are also close by.
